The New Zealand Association of Male Choirs is an informal body formed by the principal male voice choirs of New Zealand. The major function of the Association is the exercising of oversight of the triennial combined Festivals, where the choirs meet socially and sing together (see Links below for further information on recent Festivals)
Festivals have come to be held every three or four years with the venue and host for the next Festival being chosen by the choirs at a current Festival. Any proposals for a different structure or format for the Festivals may be considered by the host choir, or may be discussed and adopted by the meeting of choirs at a Festival. The Festival provides an opportunity for the host community to hear singing of quite varied sacred and secular music and some in the "Welsh" tradition, with the massed choir presenting a programme which is not possible at any other time. It also allows the choir members themselves the experience of participating in such massed choir singing and to hear and compare themselves with other choirs from around the country.
The Association also provides an opportunity for co-ordinating the activities of the male choirs, including overseas visits by choirs and visits to New Zealand by overseas choirs. Any choirs who wish to enquire about a visit to New Zealand may contact Allan Todd or write to:
